A few weeks ago we launched a very fun project for us. As part of the Comast-Spectacor Charities, The Philadelphia Flyers have a great tradition with their Flyers Wives Carnival. This is a great effort headed by the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation in concert with the wives of the Flyers and their American Hockey League affiliate the Phantoms. The carnival is in it’s 30th year and has raised over $20 million for charities in the Delaware Valley.
We created a fun and light-hearted site intended to give people a “feel” for the carnival and spirit behind it. We really wanted this to be the first step of working together with the great people involved with the foundation and I think it came out great. We will be working on some updates with content from this year's carnival as well as focusing on some follow on activities that the Flyers Wives have coming up for the remainder of the year.
The people involved with the foundation have all been great. From the Flyers to the foundation team to the people at the Wachovia Center who gave us access to the arena for images and ideas for the site.
Yesterday was the carnival and it was fantastic. This was my first time attending the carnival, and to be honest, the family atmosphere was captivating. The site was profiled on Comcast SportsNet with an interview with Jim Jackson (flyers tv announcer) and was just a wonderful experience all around.
Great people, great cause. We couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.
